As our name suggests, Action for Sustainable Living aims to support people to live more sustainably. Our unique approach, however, is doing that in the context of the individual’s local community, so that local issues and priorities are tackled and resolved locally.
Action for Sustainable Living harnesses the passion, enthusiasm and skill of volunteers to work in their own communities. To do that, we focus on recruiting, training and supporting local people to promote sustainable living in all its aspects.
We are able to reach those parts that other organisations can’t and help create stronger, safer communities by empowering people and building capacity.
AfSL is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee (incorporated in 2003). We have won many awards including the Guardian Charity of the Year (2008), National Energy Efficiency Award (2008), a Climate Leaders – CLASP – Award (2010) and the Northwest Workplace Cycle Challenge (2010).
