Current initiatives to turn local activity into micro-businesses include working with groups to create a fashion label, a timber recycling store and the manufacture of wooden laptop risers. As part of our development plan we want to maximise the number of income streams financing our projects. For example, we see our work supporting the development of local environmental and social enterprises and we see this mutually beneficial relationship as one potential source of local sponsorship that will reduce the cost of the service to statutory agencies over time. Social enterprises that we help set up will also produce income for AfSL as will affiliate income and membership. For more information please contact Steven Knight

AfSL supported local Permaculturists to facilitate the internationally recognised 72 Hour Permaculture Design Course - certified by the UK Permaculture Association - in Hulme during June and July 2006.
