Ecobuild Awards 2013
AfSL won ‘highly commended’ in the “Behavioural Change” category at the Greenbuild awards 2013. This is for the behavioural change work we’ve been doing with residents of Trafford Housing which has run alongside a retrofitting scheme run by the Housing Trust in Old Trafford.
Green Apple Awards 2013 – Silver Award
AfSL have been awarded silver in the 2013 Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice, presented by The Green Organisation at the House of Commons in November 2013. Read more on The Green Organisation website.

Energy Saving Initiative of the Year
AfSL’s Energy Academy (now Energy Saver) project in partnership with Southway Housing was awarded Energy Saving Initiative of the Year at the 2013 Sustainable Housing Awards, beating 100 other entrants to the title. CLASP Climate Leaders Award
Our work in priority wards in City to engage communities on climate change and energy saving was recognised by Northwest colleagues’ CLASP programme in 2010.
National Energy Efficiency Awards – Finalist
AfSL project work with schools, in partnership with Trafford Borough Council, was selected as a finalist in these national awards sponsored by EDF Energy, The Independent, and the UK Centre for Economic and Environmental Development.
Marks and Spencer Volunteer Award
‘Natural Recovery’, one of AfSL’s supported projects led by volunteer Carolina Scarinchi, won this high profile national award in 2010.
Workplace Cycle Challenge Award
Our record of staff cycling was recognised in 2010 as winner of the Greater Workplace Cycle Challenge. 100% of our staff got on their bikes and cycled 452 miles in one month.
Guardian Charity of the Year
In 2008 AfSL’s approach to engaging and supporting individuals and communities in addressing sustainability was nationally recognised in the prestigious Guardian Charity of the Year awards.
