HEAT’s first community-wide awareness raising campaign was a Newsletter mail-out to the 7,000 residents in Hulme. The newsletter campaign was funded by National Energy Action as a regional winner in their 'Affordable Warmth' scheme.
It was put together with contributions from HEAT members and other volunteers and included:
- An outline of HEAT purposes as a community wide initiative.
- Energy Saving tips with local themes.
- Energy Awareness Pledges.
- An Energy Use Log – an easy to use way for individuals to monitor and understand their own domestic energy consumption.
- Free loft insulation sign-ups forms for those on benefits.
- Explanatory material about renewable Vs non-renewable energy supply – with green energy sign-up advice.
- How to get involved? – a leaflet to recruit new members and offer training programmes for local energy efficiency champions.
