Open Spaces: Protection, Preservation and Participation. Workshops planned include campaigning to protect open spaces, working with local authorities to manage them and protecting informal open spaces. There will be information on the Open Spaces Assessment and a chance to have your say on the Local Development Framework (LDF) consultation. Workshops include: Campaigning & open spaces – Julie Goreham & TBC Discussion around how to campaign for the protection of open spaces including playing field campaign toolkits. Managing open spaces and working with the local authority – Hulme Urban Garden Society (HUGS) Eddie from HUGS will talk about their experiences of working with the council. Planning Surgery – North West Planning Aid North West Planning Aid will run an 'open surgery' - advice will be given in a group situation so that attendees can learn from information given to other groups and share ideas. Protecting informal open spaces - Hamilton Road Area Community Association Includes a tour of informal open spaces round the Hamilton Road area Designing an area of open space There will also be visits to Brighton Grove Allotments and a Tour of nearby Birchfields Forest Garden MERCI Tel: 0161 273 1736 Email: [email protected]
