Volunteer of the Month, February 2009. Not only has Sally put amazing amounts of energy and work into her role as Local Project Manager, but she has also proved an invaluable schools volunteer too. Her commitment has been very impressive and achievements great as a result. I have held interactive energy efficiency forums in Gorse Hill and Lostock which have focused on gas, electricity and water consumption, working together with various community groups and organisations to deliver information in fun and interesting ways! Like many people I am concerned about climate change, the ways in which energy is both used and wasted and the impact this has on our environment. I believe that awareness and education are key to bringing about the small steps that can lead to big changes. I have come into contact with many local people since I started with AfSL as a Local Project Manager and it is very encouraging to hear what community groups, schoolchildren, families etc are already doing in order to live more sustainably. I get asked a lot of questions about sustainability issues and in particular "what else can I do?" which shows that taking these small steps are important to a lot of people out there.I am looking forward to finding out what lies ahead in Gorse Hill and Lostock! |
