On Saturday 16th August the Old Trafford Amateur Gardeners' Society is holding an Open
Day. As part of National Allotment Week, the Open Day will celebrate seasonal food and highlight the benefits of growing fresh fruit and vegetables.
Between 12 - 5pm, local people are invited to visit the allotment site. Seasonal produce will be on sale as well as plants. People will be able to see the 100+ allotment plots, find out what is involved in having an allotment, get organic gardening advice and recipe sheets for seasonal food. There will also be food sampling sessions for kids and parents.
"The last Open Day we held in 2006 was a great success, even though it poured with rain. We hope lots of people come along on Saturday to celebrate a time when UK grown food is at its best." said Debbie Ellen one of the Open Day organisers.
There will also be refreshments and home made cream teas & cakes available in the Pavilion.
