“There is a real prospect of being the world’s first carbon literate city, and for the city to be a far better place as a result.”

Sir Richard Leese, Leader of City Council

Who is the training for?

Carbon Literacy Training combats carbon confusion head on and motivates employees, tenants and students to reduce energy use. The training provides all you need to know about climate change and facilitates understanding of what can be done about it. Carbon Literacy Training is a must for any business with an eye on sustainability and can be complemented with follow-on Green Champions or Local Project Manager training. For more information on other trainings, please read the AfSL Training brochure.

This accredited course offers the opportunity to join many hundreds of other workers and residents in becoming carbon literate as the city moves towards becoming the world’s first Carbon Literate city.

What happens?

Participants explore what climate change is, how it’s likely to impact on us all in the coming decades, what’s being done about it and how they can act. By the end of this training, participants are talking confidently about climate change and yearning to take action. Activities include:

  • The ABC of climate change including impacts, carbon foot-printing and climate justice
  • Global, national and local action already underway including networks that can be tapped into
  • Brainstorming action that can be taken as an individual and as a group
  • Presenting on a climate change area of interest
