Volunteer of the month

Each month AfSL staff and directors nominate a volunteer of the month. We think it is important to highlight all of the hard work that our amazing volunteers are doing. Hopefully it will also serve as inspiration to others thinking of volunteering with us!

Pamela Keifer, Local Project Manager

Pamela Keifer

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH- July 2009. Pamela has done a huge amount of work on behalf of AfSL in Davyhulme with enthusiasm and commitment. Coordinator Helen writes that she is 'simply brilliant'.

I am aware of Environmental Issues and like a lot of other people feel I could do more to improve the way I live in particular in the areas of Clothing, Household, Food and reducing waste and trying to reduce carbon footprint.  I do try to live sustainably but through learning more about the small steps we can take hope to improve the way I live and hopefully be able to encourage and facilitate others to do the same through my role as  an LPM.  My way of thinking is that if I can make small changes that are easy and fun then I am sure a lot of other Households can do the same, through meeting local groups and becoming involved with the local community businesses and schools.

Odette O'Reilly, Local Project Manger, Whalley Range

Odette O'Reilly

Volunteer of the Month 2009- Odette has done an incredible amount of work over the past few months actioning volunteers for the gardening project in Whalley Range and Chorlton Green Festival along with many other things. Her energy is endless! Like many people today I am very aware of the sustainability and enviromental issues that have become such a huge part of everyday life. I try to be as aware and responsible in addressing these issues on a day to day basis and enjoy learning from other on ways in which we can improve the way we live to benefit the enviroment and those around us. I'm really looking forward to getting to know and working with the residents of Whalley Range and helping them in addressing the sustainability issues they feel are effecting their community.
