Volunteer with AfSL

AfSL relies on volunteers to function; they play an essential role in all of our projects and core work. They offer a huge diversity of skills and experience that all extend AfSL’s capacity to support local people to live more sustainable lives. You may choose to volunteer in any of the following capacities.

  • Local Project Managers- encourage people in your local area to develop sustainable lifestyles through setting up action groups, project and events
  • Volunteer Mentors – help Local Project Managers to recruit and support local volunteers and raise awareness about sustainability events
  • Local volunteers – get in contact with your Local Project Manager or Volunteer Mentor and join an action group or help at an event
  • Education Activity volunteers- join our busy team of schools volunteers who help develop and deliver sustainability workshops in local schools
  • Office and support volunteers - help out in the office on a regular basis or provide support from home. Perhaps you are good at designing posters, enjoy research or fancy getting some media experience and would like to help promote our work?
  • IT volunteers – our website and IT systems are all supported by volunteers and we are always keen to add more people to the team!

Come along to one of our Introductions to find out more about these roles and how you can get involved. Please see our calendar or home page for details of the next AfSL Introduction.Whatever your personal motive is we welcome your support and aim to make the relationship one of mutual benefit by providing training and regular support. Volunteer of the month

Volunteer of the Month January 2010! Wendy Allport, Local Project Manager for Levenshulme

Wendy Allport

Hi, I am a Local Project Manager for Levenshulme.  I aim to reach people in the Levenshulme area, through organising events which local residents can become involved in and through providing information on sustainable issues.  This includes understanding sustainability and how to make it workable for the individual and the community.  For sustainability to be appealing to all, it needs to be accessible.
