You can support Action for Sustainable Living by becoming a member.  Membership is free if you volunteer for ½ a day or more each year.  If you are "time poor" but "cash rich", then membership costs  between £9 and £15 per year, depending on your circumstances.  Members can influence how AfSL develops, and will receive our newsletter and other benefits.  As well as individual membership, we also offer organisational membership.

Benefits of membership

Influence

Action for Sustainable Living was set up by a few enthusiastic and committed people.  But as the impact of AfSL grows, then it is  more and more important that both the communities served by AfSL, and other people with an interest in sustainability, are able to influence how AfSL develops.  Members can:

• Vote at our annual general meeting (AGM)
• Become a director
• Become a member of the local management groups we are setting up.  These groups will decide how AfSL develops in each locality

Members receive a newsletter so that they can keep up to date with what AfSL is doing and planning.

Discounts

Action for Sustainable Living works in partnership with various companies who provide "green" products and services.  These companies support AfSL by paying us money if a customer comes to them via us.  Some companies also offer discounts to customers coming via AfSL.  Because we value the contribution members make to AfSL, members receive additional discounts.  These are currently being negotiated, and will be listed here soon!

Community

Members have opportunities to meet other members living in their area, or who have similar interests.  You might be surprised at how many other people near you are also striving to live more sustainably!

Supporting AfSL

Members strengthen AfSL by giving their time or money.  We need a wider range of knowledge and experience, and we also need money, because our grant from DEFRA depends on us raising at least as much money from other sources!

Cost of membership

One year's membership is:

• Free if you volunteer for time totaling ½ a day or more
• £9 if you are unwaged, a student, or retired and pay for 2 years in advance
• £10 if you are unwaged, a student, or retired and pay for a year at a time
• £13.50 otherwise, if you pay for 2 years in advance
• £15 otherwise, if you pay for a year at a time
• £50 for organisations - you get 5 copies of our quarterly newsletter delivered to a central postal address, plus unlimited electronic copies of our newsletter and monthly update.
