I'm very excited to have joined the AFSL team on the 4th May. I will be working alongside Erika and Josh to help recruit, inspire, support and empower Local Project Managers to achieve their visions of environmentally sustainable projects in their communities across South . I have a background in media, marketing and organising fun inclusive community events. |
Staff
AfSL has a small number of dedicated staff who provide support for all of our activities and to our volunteers. We advertise any vacancies in our newsletter and on www.environmentjob.co.uk
Joanne Wilkes, Schools and Communities Coordinator
Kate Wels, Sustainability Coordinator for Trafford North
For several months I volunteered with the AFSS (A Few Small Steps) team, working in schools in and around to teach children about food, waste and energy. All good fun. Now I work with LPMs in the North Trafford and area to help them set up their exciting sustainability and environmental projects. It is great to help to get stuff going in Trafford and there is lots going on so why not check it out? Personally I have got into growing in my back yard, my womery and finding ways to conserve water. I cycle around as much as I can and/or travel by train. |
Josh Steiner, Development Worker for Schools

Tony Li, Sustainability Coordinator - South Trafford
As Kermit the Frog once pondered, "It's not easy being green", but it's a lot easier if you know other frogs, all trying to be green together. I'll be drawing on my experience as an AfSL volunteer to support the fantastic group of volunteers AfSL has attracted across South Trafford and building relationships with local community groups to make sustainability just another part of everyday life. |
Ben Lear, Community Fundraiser
I've recently joined the AfSL team as a Community Fundraiser via the Future Jobs Fund scheme. I'm hoping to help support the great work that AfSL does by developing our community fundraising work. If you have any ideas or spot any opportunities for raising community funds then please get in touch.
Outside of work I'm a keen gardener and enjoy travelling around on my bike. |
Sarah Irving, Office Manager
I joined AfSL in September 2009 as Office Manager. My role is to support the staff and volunteers and generally keep everything flowing. I have always had a keen interest in the environement and all things green. My interest has increased over the years and has featured heavily within my artwork and creative studies, by reusing and manipulating daily objects and knitting them into something new (amongst other things!) I also make Morsbags (Sociable Guerilla Bagging) and you will often find me giving my made bags to the unexpecting around ! |
