Love Your Bike |
Friends of the Earth's Love Your Bike campaign, which brought their humourous 'Fat Lane, Fast Lane' adverts to the streets and buses of in April, is still going strong. Thanks to impressive media coverage and wide local interest, over 65 cyclists have entered their routes onto our detailed mapping facility on our website, www.loveyourbike.org. This not only allows cyclists to describe and draw in detail the exact route they take, but also to comment on individual roads and junctions to help others, particularly those new to cyclists, be aware of how to cycle the route safely. The website also contains loads of information about why and how to cycle, a fun quiz, and a section where those who don't cycle can say why they don't. The latter is also useful for building up a bank of information that can be used to lobby for improvements to facilities for cyclists in , therefore making the experience of cycling an even better one. From the website you can also buy the now famous Love Your Bike fluorescent jacket, so that you can carry the campaign message every where you go and make sure that other road users know about it. Summer's here, so check out the website, find a route and get loving your bike! Graeme Sherriff, transport campaigner, Friends of the Earth |
