Action for Sustainable Living is recruiting... a Voluntary Project Manager for Chorlton, Are you ready for a life changing challenge? Do you want to make your local community a cleaner, greener place to live in? Action for Sustainable Living is a charity based in South that inspires individuals and engages communities to take action on local environmental issues. We are expanding into new areas and are looking for a Voluntary Project Manager to help us continue our current work in Chorlton.. If you are an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual able to offer eight hours per week to support AfSL's activities, why not nominate yourself for this unique opportunity? You could make a real difference in the world by supporting local people to take local action for sustainable living. No previous experience necessary. We are currently working on exciting expansion plans and hope to obtain funding for these and similar activities in the near future. For that reason, these posts will only be available for a period of up to six months. After this time, and subject to obtaining funding, we plan to recruit part-time paid staff and implement a comprehensive volunteer programme. Claire Wheeler is AfSL’s sustainability consultant for the
Old Trafford area.
Her main responsibilities include home consultations advising people in Old
Trafford on sustainable living issues and working with local groups and
organizations to promote sustainable living. Claire has been working in the Ancoats area of for the past year as a community officer for the
Mersey Basin Trust. She graduated from Plymouth University with a 2:1 degree in
Geography in 2001.
Josh Steiner is AfSL's sustainability consultant for the Hulme area. His main responsibilities include home consultations advising people on sustainable living issues, working with local schools, community groups and organizations and organizing events to promote sustainable living. Josh has an interest in energy efficiency and waste management and enjoys working with young people. Josh graduated from Metropolitan with a 2:2 in Business Administration and has recently completed certificates in Person-Centred counselling and Reflexology. Alan Boyd
is Secretary and a founding member of AfSL. He designed and manages this
website, and also ensures that AfSL
complies with its responsibilities under the Data Protection Act. Alan
works part-time as a researcher at University. He is married with 2 children and lives in Stretford, .
Chris
Wright has published two novels (Completing The Charm - 2004 - and Sod 'Em At Gomorrah - 2002 - both by New European Publications) and two non-fiction
works (A Community Manifesto - Earthscan, 2000 - and The Sufficient Community - Green Books, 1997). In 1988 he co-founded a company supporting
people with learning disabilities to access local communities, that now employs over 500 staff. As well as being a founder member of AfSL he is a Director of the internet portal
Ethical Junction.
Chris's latest book Your Wake Up Call - Signposts to Sustainability is
available through the AfSL shop, with £5 going to AfSl
for each book sold.
Mary Wright is a Director and founding member of AfSL. She is a qualified
Counsellor (and Counselling Supervisor) and Teacher. Mary pioneered an
innovative Schools Counselling Service for a local voluntary organisation.
She is responsible for the effective operation of the company's Equal
Opportunities Employment Policy. Steve Knight is a founding member of AfSL. He has been Development Director at the Scarman Trust, is a founder of the internet portal Ethical Junction, and is experienced in community development and renewal. |
