Ready for the Ethical Fashion Event SUST07?

Sustainable Urban Styles Today (SUST) is a free sustainable fashion event being run by Action for Sustainable Living (AfSL), a based not-for-profit organisation. It takes place on 8 July at The Lowry, Salford Quays.

The show will include outfits from local designers, fashion students, schools and community groups along with displays from cutting-edge ethical retailers.

It will be a chance to find out what options are available when it comes to sustainable fashion; fair trade, organic, reconditioned and more.

The garment categories are:

• Eco clothes: all alternative materials e.g. hemp, vegan, organic cotton
• Fair Trade: FT mark and ethical co-ops
• Recycled clothes made from reconditioned material
• Recycled clothes made from second hand garments

There will be a Clothing Amnesty at the event, in which all those attending can donate old pieces of clothing and select 'brand new second hand' items for themselves; plus a selection of stall's from eco/ethical exhibitors and displays from local artists.

SUST fashion show is facilitated by AfSL, but run and managed by some of their 100 volunteers.

We need volunteers to support the planning of the show:

• Media, Publicity and Research
• Sponsorship and Promotion
• Design and Artwork
• Event Management
• Hair, Make-up, Clothing and Modelling
• Assisting on the day
