Action Groups

AfSL stimulates, facilitates and supports local people to form Action Groups aimed at tackling certain sustainable living issues in their community. These are single issue groups that allow people in a community to work together in making a difference to the things that matter to them the most.

The groups raise awareness, run local events, promote local projects and generally act as a focal point for that issue in the community. Once Action Groups are operating in an area, AfSL’s Local Project Managers broker links with other relevant local groups and organisations which are doing similar work in other localities. These links are maintained through forums on AfSL’s website.

Initiatives and Action Groups include: car sharing schemes, publicising recycling facilities, distributing low energy light bulbs and much more. How the service develops in each locality depends on the the interest of key individuals, the support of other groups & organisations and the opportunities available.
